![]() Improperly Fitting DenturesWhen your dentures don't fit properly, they may crack when you least expect them to. Once this happens your mouth will be exposed to an undue amount of stress and strain every time you chew some food. The longer this happens, the bigger the cracks and fracture lines will become.Aging DenturesEventually, your dentures will grow old. When this happens, it's possible that they will still feel as though they fit you fine. Unfortunately, this can be deceiving. Since your dentures are made from strong materials, they do weaken over time. As this happens, they also become more prone to increased damage.Too Much Wear and Tear Your dentures experience an unimaginable amount of daily wear and tear. Gradually, over time this stress coupled with pressure from chewing and temperature changes in your mouth will wear your dentures down. You also need to be careful because acidic foods play a role here as well. Accidents When you're wearing dentures, it's important for you to always remember that they're fragile. The material may look strong enough to hold up to pressure, but if you were to accidentally drop them, you'd see they'll easily break. This is why any time you're handling your dentures, you should do so over a soft towel or a sink full of water. Also, when you're not wearing your dentures, make sure you store them in some water in a safe place where they won't be knocked over easily.
