How to Manage a Tooth with a Missing Crown Until It Can Get RepairedIf you have lost a crown, you should make sure to come see us as soon as possible. Until we can get it repaired, you will need to take a few precautions to help minimize the chances of any further damage to your tooth.

Avoid Eating Crunchy or Sticky Foods

First, you should pay close attention to the kinds of food that you are eating. Foods that are overly crunchy or sticky could end up causing further issues with your damaged tooth. In addition, they are likely to cause you some discomfort.

Stick with soft foods that are easy to chew. You may even wish to limit yourself to soft, creamy foods such as yogurt, soups, and other similar fare.

If you notice discomfort with food that is either very warm or very cool, make sure that you keep your food and drink at a tepid temperature. In addition, you will want to be sure that you avoid foods with high sugar content.

Managing Your Discomfort

If the tooth is causing you some discomfort, you can help manage that by taking over the counter painkillers like aspirin or ibuprofen. You can also use more natural remedies such as applying clove oil to the sensitive spot. This can help numb things and make it easier for you to function until we can see you.

Keep in Touch with Us

Also, you want to be sure that you keep us updated on your condition. If something goes wrong with the tooth, we will want to see you sooner than we may have originally planned. In a situation like this, it is important that you pay extra attention to the tooth.

If you have any questions about your teeth or getting your crown replaced, feel free to ask us. We're always eager to help, so call us today.
